Hi everyone -- COTW Time here.  It is so fun to see how the inspirational photo inspires you.  For the Chic of the Week, I chose Nancy in Iowa.  I love the way she picked up the wood paneling and then took the time to punch all the leaves for the wreath!  I have made one of those, and let me tell you, your hand hurts by the time you get done!  Right Nancy? :)

Chic of the Week #162

Thank you to everyone who participated in the ribbon wreath challenge.  I know for many of you it was your first time trying one and I'm so glad you dove in and gave it a go :)  I  had a great time visiting all your creations and had a very tough time selecting a winner!!

After much debate, the Chic of the Week honor goes to Ros.  I just loved how she used stitched ribbon for her wreath, and the sparkly, silver Christmas tree she placed in the middle was a fabulous touch.  Great papers and lovely noel block letters give her card a fabulous winter feel.  In addition, she used a scarp of ribbon to make ribbon "pine cone" accent on a second card.

I can't go without noting the honorable mentions.  Alissa's red wreath on a wood grain background was fabulous - reminded me of a wreath on a barn door, and Miesje did a fabulous job incorporating her wreath into the I Spy sketch.

Just Us Girls #162 - Technique Challenge

This week is technique week here on the Just Us Girls blog, and I am your hostess.  I discovered this fabulous ribbon wreath tutorial a few years ago and decided to revisit it as it makes such a statement on a card.  Here is the link to the You-Tube tutorial.

I used 1/4" satin ribbon on my wreath, but as you can see by the samples below, you aren't limited to any particular width or type of ribbon.  You could even use 1" ribbon and make a Christmas tree ornament if you like, or use some gold or silver twine and make yourself some cute earrings.  Kids love making these too!!  I made them with my daycare kids last year and they loved them!  Just have fun with it and see what you come up with.
