Just Us Girls Anniversary!! JUGS 53 - Sketch

Today is a VERY special day at Just Us Girls! If you didn't notice our post title, it's the JUGS one year anniversary! Yes, we started our humble little challenge blog one year ago today. Our group name was conceived when Lauren Meader decided to pursue her new, My Time Made Easy business and disbanded her challenge DT. "Just us girls" ventured off on our own, changed the lineup of challenges a tad bit, and started JUGS. It was an intended pun to use this name because most of the JUGS ladies have been affected by breast cancer in some way. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so the start of our group and the name had significant meaning in a couple of ways :]

We are proud to boast over 650 followers, many of whom faithfully play along every week. You all make us so proud every time you link your gorgeous work to our challenge blog. We are honored to share your company in this wonderful, paper crafting world ♥

So, in honor of our anniversary, we have a simple, yet FUN sketch:
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are not asking for you to donate to a specific organization, rather, we would like to provide a few popular links that support breast cancer awareness and research. If you donate, we are grateful, if you don't, feel free to share the links and spread the word!

Avon Foundation for Women - Breast Cancer Crusade
Breast Cancer Awareness
The Breast Cancer Site
BreastCancer.org
CDC - Breast Cancer Awareness
National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc
Susan G. Komen for the Cure

We also have several, GENEROUS sponsors this week! The list of prizes that have been supplied by some of our FAVORITE stamp companies is listed below. HUGE THANK YOU to every company who donated!!!

Your post made me cry! I didn't realize this was how JUGS was born. I just figured it was a cute acronym. Anyway, my sister is breast cancer survivor. She just went for her mammogram, having been diagnosed 3 years ago. They found a spot of concern. We are now just waiting to hear what they say about it. I only pray that it's nothing and she can truly celebrate 3 years of being free from this horrible disease.

Happy Anniversary JUGS - you truly inspire me weekly, even if I can't always play. Many hugs to all of you.

Oh Melissa...I will definitely keep your sister in my prayers! Thankfully she has a wonderfully supportive and loving sister like you ♥ Gail, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother and grandmother, but delighted to hear you have beat the odds and are living strong! Keep it up girl!!

My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, 9 months of chemo and has been in remission now for 7 years. I completely understand the fear and living on eggshells always wondering if that horrible disease will present itself or wage another battle.

God be with you all, ladies ♥

Happy Anniversary! I really appreciate this challenge site and your ties to breast cancer awareness. I am a mammographer so I deal with breast cancer awareness quite a bit. I also have a close friend whose mother had breast cancer. We will find a cure!

Congrats on your one year! I am always inspired by your blog...I just don't ever get to participate, but I am going to today. Not because of the prize, but because it's an important month for me personally.

I am Melissa's Craig's sister...I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago and I have been officially released by the doctors on Friday (10/1). No more mammograms every 6 months - I only have to go yearly now. No more meds!!

I totally encourage every woman to get their mammograms - it's so important, but what's even more important is doing your monthly self-exams, that was how I found my lump. Don't neglect yourself.

Now off to make my card!! Have a fabulous day.

I really enjoy playing with the JUGS challenges when time permits. My mom and my aunt(mom's sister) are breast cancer survivors. Both have had a mastectomy. My mom's surgery was in 1996 and she will be 89 next February!! I also happened to work with Suzie Komen in Peoria, IL several years before she was diagnosed. She was a kind, generous lady and the Susan G. Komen Foundation is great charity that does such great work.

I came into your blog quite by accident. I am not able to configure the email account for some reason! Do you think you could email me so that I can enter the contest.

I thought all the blogs were gorgeous, awesome and very very clever.

What a wonderful sketch and beautiful inspiration pieces ladies. This is my first time visiting the site and thought that sketch was just what I needed for a card I wanted to send out this week. Loved reading all the comments and stories in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My grandmother on my father's side had it, but has since passed away. Here's hoping a cure is found.
